The MSDS says "CLEAR LIQUID; MILD ODOR."
My guess is that (unlike many WD40 products, which are scented), the
odor you smell is just the natural odor of highly distilled light
mineral oil. I'll bet that Starrett 1620 smells very similar. The
MSDS for that says "Color: Clear; Odor: Slight".
In any case, I have updated my web page to reflect what I learned
about KS7471 grease.
