Fred,

Yes, the stick on hammers work and look more original.  Just be careful to watch that it doesnt fall off.  It takes about 4 or 5 lines of text to start to ruin the typewheel.  

I have also seen the stuff you dip a pliers or cutters handle in to insulate them used as a rubber hammer.  

Too bad we cant find some black vinyl tubing.  That would look better.

eep hearing about the vinyl tubing fix.  Quite clever.  I have a 33 in storage 
just wanted the manuals but had to take the complete unit for a dollar at a 
chool surplus sale) and had never looked at the print hammer so when I saw the 
icture someone posted I thought why not try a stick on foot/bumper?  I think 
hey may be similar in composition as the tubing and would definitely be closer 
o original.

P.S. Yes, that Fred.  The one that won the lottery for the ST-8000.  Took it to 
ield day but the laptop I took did not have a serial port.  Works great at 
ome.  Hope to get the shack into 2-way mode this winter.
