Hello everyone,

I've just spent the past few hours carefully inspecting my new-to-me ASR
33. After verifying that there were no obviously broken parts or missing
pieces, I disassembled the major components so I can start cleaning
them.

There seem to be no missing parts. All the springs look like they are in
good condition. All the metal parts are free of rust.

It is REALLY caked in old oil and grease, though. It's thick, and black,
and gunked-up, so it needs a very good cleaning.

I would like to give the Typing Unit a bath in Simple Green, but before
I do, how much of it is safe to submerge? I assume that I will have to
remove the motor at the very least, but what else should be removed from
the typing unit?

-Seth
