Even WITH a GFCI?

If you read the NEC, grounded outlets aren't required on GFCI protected circuits.

And in general you should never use motors on GFCI protected circuits.

A good example is bathroom exhaust fans. They will regularly trip GFCIs.

My rule of thumb is to ground everything to the same physical point, or ground nothing.

Ground loops are ugly.
