Oh. Mine is nothing like that. It's a tabletop machine. The base is a
casting about 18 in square and 2 in high. The base has tags "26A
TELETYPEWRITER BASE", and "BELL SYSTEM SERVICE" and "EQUIPMENT MANFACTURED
BY TELETYPE CORP"
I removed the CR-LF automat from it today, and tore out the old rotten
rubber wiring. There are two sets of terminals on the back of the base.
One is the contacts that mate with the typer for the selector leads. The
other has the AC for the motor and the keyboard contactss. I ran it for a
second holding the selector armature up. It did a couple whirrs and clicks
and stood at attention nicely. So the motor is fine. I hit the space bar
and the cam shaft rotated once and stopped, so i can't be too far away from
having it run. My paper rolls arrived today too. Still looking for a
ribbon - I know I had several that were NIB, but are also probably dry now
too.
With the paper roll so far from the carriage I guess it didn't have to
travel back and forth to follow the carriage. I'm sure I can cobble
something to hang on the carriage to do the job.

Look at this and I can probably get more detail when I have moved the litter
of kittens into the "cat area" and had breakfast and hauled in at least one
load of fire wood that I cut yesterday and do some clothes washing since my
wife is absent today, working as a volunteer in the hospital gift shop.
Yes, the first flakes of snow of the season are now drifting down.
