Oh boy, the answer is almost surely in the AB positioning.  I never remove the AB contact block because it is difficult to replace it perfectly.  There is a contact wire in the AB in the middle that is called the suppression contact.  If its touching the contact bar you will get nothing from the kybd.  Its the one with the little rectangle brown phenolic insulator on it.  

With the AB in home position adjust the AB block forward and backward till the suppression contact matches the other 8 contacts and has the same distance from the contact bar.  Sometimes the suppression contact is a little more away from the contact bar than the other 8.  Not touching the bar is important.  Make sure the contact block is squarely positioned in the base of the 33, not twisted in either direction.  Unfortunatley, the position of the Here Is white tab also affects the suppression contact, so maybe you should adjust the contact block slightly until it seems to rotate and fall into the home position correctly and then the Here Is white tab adjustment to get the proper positioning of the suppression contact.  I am changing my suggestion midstream here as I think about it.  The two adjustments affect each other so it will be a trial and error effort.

It looks like it has something to do with the answer-back mechanism. I took my 
nswer-back drum and holder out to clean behind it, and when I put it back into 
he machine, I had it too far forward, toward the front of the TU, so it the 
rum was engaging the "here is" lever at all times. I've adjusted it and put it 
ack into a better position, and the constant typing problem is gone.
However, there's a new problem -- now, I can't get ANYTHING to type in local 
ode!
The distributor mechanism looks like it's working correctly. The distributor 
rush holder is not constantly spinning like it was before, but it does spin 
henever I press a key. The distributor clutch engages, the brushes spin, but 
othing is getting coded.
I thought maybe it was a dirty distributor disc, so I cleaned it gently with 
sopropyl alcohol and made sure the brushes were nice and dry, but that didn't 
ix it. It still won't type. I tested electrical continuity in the distributor 
isc just to make sure, and it all looks good. The brushes are working fine.
I really think I knocked something out of alignment in the distributor or 
nswer-back area while I was cleaning it. I just need to figure out what it was 
o I can put it back where it belongs.

 Those are the easy checks. 

 The H plate adjustment is made by loosening the printer side of the mech. and 
oving the H plate till the kybd reset has just a little overtravel on its 
ownward movement before it starts up and is caught by the latching lever.  Make 
he adjustment with the power off and by rotating the motor fan manually toward 
he front of the printer.  Tricky to do.  Titen adjustment screw after. 

 But first be sure of the other stuff and be sure the printer is sitting in the 
ubber feet squarely etc.  Visual checks should find the trouble.  It is almost 
urely something you did on putting the printer back in the 33 base.

 I did NOT clean the keyboard, and it was working before, so I don't think

 the problem. The H-bar is in place. Did I knock something out of whack in the 
 distributor or the clutch trip mechanism, maybe?

 Where should I start looking first?
