the 8.677 mc signal is still in here this morning at about an S5 using a
30 meter dipole up in the air about 15 feet.
The 4 mc channel is quiet using the same antenna whereas last night it
was quite loud.
I heard nothing on the 5 mc frequency although WWV was about an S5 and i
did hear foreign broadcast stations at 5820 so i know the receiver isn't
dead. Again using a dipole cut for the 30 meter band.
Didn't have the 13 mc frequency so didn't listen there. Looking at the
VE7CC DX cluster this morning things are really quiet. Most of the
reporting stations are European and working in a vertical line, North -
South with some South Americans working into India. Otherwise North
American activity in the west/southwest part of the country is minimal.
May have something to do with the way we are hearing signals here. BTW
the 30 meter antenna runs at about 20-200 degrees.
I could try the 20 meter beam on the 13 mc freq but the pattern would
more than likely be really screwed up so whether or not it would be
meaningful, i doubt it but will give it a try.
