I don't know if its interface is the same as that of the IC-7000 but the latter
is very easy and works well (at least when the radio hasn't caught on fire like
mine has twice now) Here's my setup for keying the radio:

In RTTY mode the 7000 just takes a TTL level signal and uses that to decide
which tone to transmit. 
For receiving, I use the demod board I made fed by audio output from the radio:
