There might be another explanation.
I read somewhere that we were having to lease satellite space from china or
somebody for our military communications.
Perhaps somebody high up realized that wasn't so smart and they decided to
reactivate some of the resources we have available?

Yes, the KG-84s are still around. I think all the KW-series crypto is
history though.
Again, odd that a KG-84 would be used for such slow speed traffic. Such a
waste
of resource! LOL. More surprised that whoever is sending is still using HF
too,
instead of satellites/SATCOM.
Letting it run for a few days yet from this end......at least, listening to
it every
now and then does bring back some memories.......of how we used to do
things.
