The complexities of selecting suitable parts are why I thought it would be a good idea to communicate the part numbers.

??????????? Just becuse a plug will fit in the jack does not mean the jack is suitable for the purpose you intend.?? Most long frame jacks found in surplus sources are for telephone or audio uses.? The spring arrangement of telegraph jacks is entirely different from telephone jacks and the "loop'? or?"set" functions cannot be wired with telephone jacks, just as? the normal back-to-back connection of telephone jacks (Line/Drop) cannot be wired with telegaaph jacks?(generally).? In addition of course,? three conductor (TRS) jacks are telephone use, but can be used for audio stuff, while no telegraph jacks are made with three conductors.?

FWIW, my local surplus store (OEM Parts) has a tray full of long frame jacks that take 1/4 inch plugs. They were in my way constantly when I was looking for the smaller 0.206 inch version for Jeff (WA6FWI). And they are a LOT less than $11 apiece. They also have a lot of the 303A plugs, NOS in original plastic or some mounted on cables.

Pricey, but they'll outlive us all.

The Switchcraft 3 conductor (TRS) bushing mounted (as in
patch panels and telco stuff) with two N.C. leafs for the
tip and ring respectively. This allows for shorting when a
   plug is removed.

And yes, 1/4" plugs fit just fine. Both W.E. Mil and Radio
   Shack.
