[GreenKeys] 20ma and 60ma loops

On a 33 ASR with UCC-6, I have never put 60 MA into a 20 MA machine, but there is always a first time. Best to check the machine before attaching it to a loop source.

Most 33 w/UCC-6 come wired for 20 MA Full Duplex. You can identify that by looking at the UCC-6 just in front on the chassis mounted power transistor and looking at the large flat green resistor with 4 slide-on connectors. 20 MA, the left wire is on the outside toward the printer. 60 MA its one slide-on in leaving the outside connector empty. There is another wire change on the terminal strip as well. Cant remember that one without looking it up.

Almost all 32 ASR's, Telex or UCC-5, are 60 MA half duplex.

On the 28's and 15's most are all 60 MA, but others on this list know more about them than I do.

Subject: [GreenKeys] 20ma and 60ma loops

I've been enjoying the discussion around this, and learning from all you folks.
What happens, and how bad is it, if you put a teletype on the wrong loop? I
uess a teletype wired for 60ma on a 20ma loop won't work. What about the other
ay around? Can you damage the teletype by putting it on the wrong loop?
Paul
