What I want to know is why is everyone seemingly fixated on the Enigma?

Yes, we know Nazis. Yes, we know, U-Boots.

But the (later) KL-7, the M-209 and its more advanced sibling (and
later machine) the C-52, and the SIGABA are far, far more interesting.
