It's not just DEC that used the 33ASR, other companies did too. And in
terms of restorations... it's less so that DEC people are snatching up
the modified 33 ASRs, as there are various hardware hackers and people
with DG or HP machines.
Since on a DEC box, you'd do much better with a PC0x high sped
reader/punch and a DECwriter as your printing terminal of choice. (Or
a VT52 if you want to not deal with ink and paper.) Those solutions
are also faster, much, much faster then a 33ASR. (Compare 300 cps tape
reading to 10 cps.)
What I'd love to find is one of the DEC modified Model 35 ASRs.
...Because I'm pretty sure the 35ASR weighs more then most small DEC
systems.
