[GreenKeys] M28 Troubleshooting Question

Hi guys,
So I'm in the process of bringing a (new to me) 28 back into service after several years storage. This week I've managed to degrease the keyboard/base and the typing unit, and have lubed them according to the books. Everything appears to move freely.
What I'm seeing when 'hand powering' the typing unit is a series of spaces until it reaches the end of the platen. Is this normal or should the printing mechanism 'jump' in place? I can force a Car Ret by faking out the codebars during rotation.
When the TU is on the KB/base and I power the motor directly, I get the same result (obviously) along with a jumping 'Keyboard Lock' key.
Is this normal? Anything obvious I should check?
Thanks,
Cory Heisterkamp
