THANKS FOR EVERYONE’S HELP! It is wonderful to find such a terrific group, so willing to assist me, wow!
To keep a long story short, I have a M15 that my Dad bought for me in 1962. I had it on the air for many, many years, but during the last 10, it has sat covered up in my garage. My wife threatened to throw it away every six months or so, but I held her back, not willing to part with this part of history, not ever wanting to be rid of such a superb piece of engineering. Nonetheless, it was my wife’s idea the other evening to put the M15 back into service…she even helped my carry it into the house!
PARTS: To start, I noticed that the space bar is broken and the letter M keytop is gone. I am missing the three thumb screws that hold the typing unit to the base, and the plexiglass where I replaced a broken cover glass years ago is scratched and difficult to see through. I plan to take her apart this weekend and clean her up, degunking her, and then reoiling/greasing. I am sure I will find a few other small parts that need replacement.
So in answer to your question, I don’t think anything major is broken, but won’t know until I hook her up to the ST-6 and see what happens. Wish me luck!
Thanks again for helping me! More later when I get her cleaned up.
