Hi all, 

 

I know it's been too long again!  I'm not sure what I do with my time, but
it seems I'm always behind.

 

Since he had the lumbar punctures, Jerry remains about the same.  I can see
small improvements, more flexibility, but he is so weak that the physical
improvements are slight.  He is still communicating well (if we turn off the
TV!) and he is in good spirits.

 

The next step in the process toward the surgery is a nuclear imaging
procedure that is administered over a period of 5 days.  We have postponed
this test for a few weeks.  Jerry is just not looking forward to riding in
the transport van every day for a week. Plus, it is very difficult getting
him from the wheelchair to the exam table at the facility, at home, we are
still using the lift. 

 

Jerry is reading his email more often now, his interest seems to come in
waves, he'll sit with the computer for  an hour or two one day and then
won't be interested for a week or more.  

 

The doctors have indicated that all of his symptoms are most likely the
result of the pressure the fluid is putting on his brain.  But, like
everything else to do with the brain, they aren't sure that the surgery will
help with all of his symptoms.  As one of the doctors told me "it is all
about time".  So, we continue to thank God for the progress!

 

We have decided to buy a van with a lift, so if you happen to know of one
that might be available, I would appreciate a note with contact info.  We
really need a lift, not a ramp, and we have kids who will travel to check it
out.

 

Jerry is still enjoying your cards, he is using the phone more now  and as I
said, reading emails.  If you call, use the land line and leave a message
(661-831-1494).

 

Also, we are using our street address for mail now, 13040 Gosford Rd.,
93313.  I'm not out as much now, so it's easier walk out to the mail box!
