Hey Tim & al;
I agree!
Also, listening to the "knocking" sound a 15 makes while
printing is way cooler than the sound a 28 makes.
Story:
Back in 1968 I picked up a model 15 from the local war
surplus store. I brought it home, connected all the cables,
and turned it on. It scared the heck out of me! I called
one of the guys that was on RTTY and told him I think it's
really messed up - because it sounds really horrible. He had
me hold the phone up to it and turn it on. I did, and after I
shut it off, and picked up the phone again, I could tell he
was finishing up on his laughing. I asked him what he thought
the problem was and he said: "it's just running open. Turn on
the loop supply and see what happens". I did.
REMARKABLE!
