Jim & the gang -
TTYSIM will run under XP in a Command Window (DOS window).
TTYSIM will do both Baudot and ASCII, at all the common 'machinery'
Baud rates.
I wrote TTYSIM in 1990 or so, back in the DOS 3.1 days, it is pretty
amazing that it does so well 20+ years later. When you run TTYSIM in
the Command Window, you can set up various parameters to suit your own
taste, like text color, background color, font type & size, window
position, etc. (As yet, I have not found a way to make TTYSIM use the
nice Model 28 'teleprinter' font, but if you fuss with it you can set it
up to look like the dreaded purple ink on canary paper...).
The software that I used to write TTYSIM is Microsoft Macro
Assembler, which, last I looked, was given away free with the Microsoft
XP System Developer Kit. I think that I can give away copies of MASM &
LINK with a clear conscience, if you would like to come up with your own
version of TTYSIM.
Find TTYSIM here:

Look toward the bottom of the page, "Download TTYSIM.ZIP"
73, good luck

The screen is tailored to look good on a GRiD PC with an orange plasma
display. If you don't like the way it looks on
