It is of course possible that your Siemens T106 used a different code,
but the Teletypesetter was used and sold internationally from the
1930s onward.  

The other unusual feature of TTS tape is that the feed holes 
align with the leading edge of the data holes, not with their centerlines
(curiously, the image above does not represent this, even though
this is a scan of the back of a pocket rule from Fairchild).

A couple of years ago, I spent way too much time poking around in the
early history of printing telegraph codes, with an emphasis on the
TTS code.  The writeup also explains a bit of the use of the TTS system
in the context of the Linotype.
