For linux/mac folks there is hugin, but I found it  to be not very
automatic.  I had to do lots of manual feature  correlation in hugin in
order to get anything halfway decent.  It took  about 30 minutes with
hugin to do something that I can do effortlessly in  seconds with MS
ICE.
