Greenkeyers:

There are Teletype 5310T printers available on Craigslist in
Philadelphia. $25.00 dollars ea. plus shipping. Here's the
link:

I purchased 2 of these printers and I'm very pleased with them.
The 'T' in 5310T means that they have been modified to TEMPEST
standards. All of the electronics are encased in sheet metal
(except for the power supply) and most of the wiring is
shielded. Externally, they look like regular 5310 printers.
The 5310 printer has a regular width carriage while the 5320
printer has a wide carriage.

The 5310T is a friction feed printer. It accepts standard
8.5 in wide paper. It was meant to be used with a 2 in.
diameter paper roll that sits on top of the rear of the
enclosure. It will work with regular size paper rolls but
some sort of paper handling arrangement will have to be
figured out. It will accept both ASCII and Baudot inputs.
By Baudot I mean regular US TTY. Bell on S, apostrophe on
J, quotation mark on Z etc. The electrical interface is via
a DB-37 connector. It will accept RS-232. It has speed
options for 50, 75, 110, 150, 300 baud and up. So, you can't
copy 45.5 baud TTY unless you build a speed up-converter.
There is a very simple electronic gear shift shown in the
archived 73 Magazine files. See the Nov. 1978 issue --
"The UART Gear Shifter - for multi-speed RTTY."

The two units I received were in great condition - near new.
They were in Teletype factory boxes with foamed-in-place
cushioning. Tags inside indicated that the military had
them at one time. I would guess that they had been opened,
checked and then repacked. Included with the machines I
received were the installation and operating manual, a 1 page
quick reference, a sealed ribbon and the power cord. There
is no keyboard with the printer but the keyboard jack and
wiring is present.

Note that the ad says that manuals, ribbon and power cord are
included with MOST machines. The printer is worthless if
you don't get the manual and the ribbon. The power cord is a
standard IEC type. Seller says that the printers are sold
as-is with no warranty.  I have no connection with the seller;
I'm merely relating my experience with the machines.
