    I am not an expert on Teletypes...  Why did you oil the 
dashpot, is it specified in the service instructions?  If 
not perhaps cleaning the oil out will help. I've had 
experience with dashpots in sound recording equipment but 
don't remember any that required oiling.
    There are real experts here (not kidding) so we will see 
if I am full of oil.
