Just got off the phone with Bill Bytheway who has been writing a new 
GUI to interface with MMTTY (which is a terrible GUI) to 
specifically work with the ST-8000A and the data arrangement I 
cooked up for that TU.

I gave him an ST-8000A with one of the interface mods in it, and I 
guess he sorta likes it.

The interface has a bi-directional loop to RS-232 in it, plus a 
feature whereby you can switch between a computer (RS-232) input and 
a currrent loop, which has a loop circuit keyer as well as a loop 
sniffer arrangement to turn the loop into TTL and from there to 
RS-232.  Raising DTR causes the ST-8000A to pay attention to the 
current loop.

Bill says his project is not complete yet, but will review todays 
thread and just might make his present level of software available 
for trial and comment.
