Hi Ralph,

My son and I hope to make some of these. They are not quite as simple as we first thought.
The model we are trying to copy is the for the LPW300 which is the model with the mercury switch and round cover. We will also look into the M15 winder that was used on the 15,19, and early M28s. Riceguy sent me the dimensions so we will see what we can come up with.

Best,

My personal 'archive' of GreenKeys goes back only to Vol 101, Issue 37, which is dated
June 26, 2012. I may have more on the other computer that failed sometime back.

I just looked through around 300 'Issues' looking for mentions of Paper Winders. I
seem to remember some talk about someone looking into making the display bails for the
Paper Winders to prop up the text for reading before the paper was wound on the 'spool'
on the back of the machine. I have two of the Winders, and neither of them came with
the Display Bail.

Just wonder if someone did tackle that design/construction project? I would be willing
to kick in a few 'research dollars' and pay for the two Bails I need if someone has
access to the material (maybe 3/16" rod stock?) and the means to fabricate them. The
one intact winder I remember seeing had a 'Bail' that appeared to be about 16/18" above
the cabinet top and was set back far enough so that the small top lid could be opened
with no interference. If the large cabinet opening was opened, then the Bail had to be
removed.

If someone has one that they would be willing to photograph and measure, it would be a
great start for such a project. I don't have the means to accurately bend steel rod
stock, or I might attempt to bend something up for this purpose.

I welcome comments on or off list.

Thanks & 73,

Ralph - W8ROI
