Hi all,

 

Just a quick note to let you all know we saw the neurosurgeon last week. He
has recommended that Jerry have a series of lumbar punctures (one a week for
3 weeks) to drain fluid and ease pressure on the brain.  If this process
helps his mobility, then the doctor would go ahead with the surgery. We
didn't discuss options if this procedure is not helpful.  Jerry and I both
felt like we were in overload by the time the dr. answered our questions
regarding the LP process.

 

The first LP is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, the 7th. So please
continue those positive thoughts.

 

A few of you have suggested that Jerry should go out of town to see a
surgeon and believe me, that was my very first thought!  But, with his lack
of mobility, it just isn't feasible. At home we have to use the lift to move
from bed to chair, etc. and we hire a medical transport to get us to
appointments.  

 

I researched and found good reviews for this dr., Jerry and I are
comfortable with him and he is not rushing toward the surgery. Plus the fact
that the neurologist and primary care physician recommended him.   

 

Thank you all over and over again for your support.  I don't respond to all
of your correspondence, but I hope you know we think of you often and
appreciate you all so much.
