ok! yea that plantronics that was on ebay was 11 dollars buy it now., and  
it seemed to lite up I have some other plantronics baudot gear so the  
plantronics 1280 'caught' my eye

The ST8000 can do speed and code conversion (Baudot to ASCII) and I  think 
it can also do selective calling ("selcal").  The Plantronics  1280 is very 
similar to the ST8000A.
