Jerry,

As I recall a 28ASR with a three speed gear shift uses all 100 wpm  
gears.
In my gear collection I have many gears that are made for opposite  
rotation.
However they are for the older M14/15/19/20 equipment.

Why not run your TTY machine at 100 WPM and have a buffer clock
it out at 60 WPM?  It's certainly not a problem to do it.  A
local ham had a setup like that.  He thought the keyboard was
too sluggish at 60 WPM so he changed his machine to 100 WPM.
Both the keyboard and TD ran at 100 WPM while the buffer took
care of what was going out.  The buffer on the TD knew when it
was getting full and simply stopped the tape while the buffer
emptied.  An up-converter took care of incoming signals.
