You bring up a good point about the interface someone could do a good
little cottage business making some of these for sale. Even for
those of us that are 'into it' many of us do not have time for
more construction projects. I have 30 projects ahead of the interface but
yet need one!
Keep up the good work on your 15! for fuses yard sales in old parts
of town might yield some cheap... or savaging derelict
buildings... might also check old hardware stores that have been around a long
time.... I have not seen any new ones in home depot but have not
looked....
OK look at this....

Hey guys,
Just thought I'd share my latest progress...
And I need to give another big thanks to everyone that's helped me out so
far, I REALLY appreciate it. This thing would probably end up being a very
large door stop without the help!
So, I haven't gotten much done since that arctic cold front hit us...can't
really paint when it's ten below outside lol. Did get a few other things
done though...
Here's the motor base after being cleaned up. Since I took that picture I
also buzzed it with a wire wheel and unscrewed the terminal blocks...I'm
still chicken to just cut the old speaker wire out of it until I have a
better handle on how to wire it back up. I might hit it with a light sanding
disk to clean it up a little more, but after the wiring is out it's pretty
much ready for paint.

Oh, and I cleaned the fuse block in the ultrasonic machine...it looks
pretty nice now. Can you still get those fuses? Haven't seen one in a long
time...would like to keep it original, but if that's not possible I'll try
find something that looks like it belongs there anyway.
And here's the motor mounting plate before picture:

Pretty severely rusted and pitted. Here it is after electrolysis:

And here after a little touch up with the wire wheel:

It cleaned up pretty nice...in the bottoms of the worst of the pitting,
there's still some crud, but other than that it's great. Just need to pick
up another can of wrinkle paint and get some warmer weather...
Did get the motor cleaned up and painted. Here's a couple before pics:

And here it is masked off and ready for paint...

I suspended it from the screw hole in the rear of the shaft with a metal
coat hanger...worked pretty well, although spraying the underside (front)
was kind of a trick. Looks really nice. After I sprayed it, I hung it up in
the laundry room and let it dry for a few days. I'll probably put it
together tonight. I might try and shine up that brass plate...was thinking
about taking some 2000 grit sandpaper, and putting it on a piece of glass and
carefully sliding it across that (wet). Any kind of buffer would take the
paint out, but this shouldn't. Might be able to get a final polish on it
with a dremmel buffer and some patience.
And looking forward to trying to run the machine, I've got this I might
try...

I think it's from the '50s? Got it off ebay a few years ago for next to
nothing thinking I might have a use for it someday. I hooked up the audio
input to my laptop and played a faux RTTY signal into it generated by
MMTTY...the little cyclops display tube in the front seemed to respond to it, so
I think it works. What I'm going to do (at least to test the machine) is
try and feed it that signal from the computer through this TU and least be
able to give it some copy to print. I got that to work with a Tono Theta
5000...it picked up the copy from my laptop just fine, so (at least in
theory) this should work. Eventually I want to run an RS232 connection to the
15, but since I lack the engineering skill to build an adapter I'll have to
buy something. Hopefully this will at least get me started anyway...
Here's the connections on the back of it:

Sorry for the noob question, but are the 3/4 terminals a loop supply?
Anyway, that's where I'm at right now... It's getting there :).
