Don unless you're planning a ton of SMD rework don't bother getting it.
I use a Hakko temperature controlled iron and also the Hakko 808 desoldering
gun for most of what I do. I can regularly hand solder down to 0402 chips,
don't like it but it's doable, and the 808 with a selection of tips covers
anything from SMD to the vintage tube stuff. I also have a Weller WTCP
that I use when I need more mass in the tip and a big Weller, 100 watts
I think, from a stained glass place for really heavy duty work. Used Metcal
stuff is good too. I have an Aoyue 968 on the bench and it sees very little
use, great if you need to remove a 240 pin chip without damage but I don't
do that often.
