Introduced  in 1985. This unit has a low serial number, 696. I'd
put the age at around  25 years.

It _IS_ going to have capacitor issues. I.e. the weak CRT is  probably
a HV issue. The main board has a number of tantalum "time  bomb"
electrolytic capacitors that like to short out when they  fail.

I've seen prices on the ST-8000 all over the map from $150 to  $1500.

Is this one worth almost $300, with shipping? That depends I  guess 
on how badly you want one, and whether or not you feel  comfortable
servicing  it.
