Rob,
No help on the color. Most yellow tape is oiled. Black is not as I remember. Pink and blue I am not sure.

The tape I have is blue. I will do what you suggest, although I don’t really envisage using lots of paper tape. I will want to make sure the reader is working before I show it off in October.

Rob,
What color is your tape?
Its no problem to use unoiled paper tape. You can oil an inch or two and run it thru the punch using deletes every month or so to be safe.
Just dont use mylar tape. It will dull the punch pins after awhile.

UP CLOSE TO YOUR NOSE YOU CAN USUALLY SMELL THE OIL UNLESS THE TAPE HAS DRIED OUT.
MANY OF THE MANUFACTURERS PUT THE TAPE IN A BAG IN THE BOX OR LINED THE BOX WITH A SEAL COATING.
ANOTHER SOLUTION IS TO SPRAY BOTH SIDES OF THE ROLL WITH A MIST OF LIGHT WEIGHT OIL AND PUT IT IN A PLASTIC BAG FOR AT LEAST A WEEK.

Is it right that I should really use some kind of oiled paper tape for my Model 33. I seem to remember when I used a Model 33 back in the 70s the paper tape was not oiled. The only paper tape I have is not oiled as far as I can tell, never having encountered oiled paper tape (as far as I know) I am not quite sure what it is like.
