Yes.

It is basic AC theory. To achieve a fast rise time with an inductor
you require a stiff current source. "Stiff" being defined as having
sufficient voltage to maintain the current despite the initial
impedance of the inductor.

Hence the nominal 120 vdc loop supplies rather than the 6-12
volts it take just to pull 60 mA through the coils.
