      Interesting stuff.  I posted a question about Western 
Union clocks to the Morse list some time ago and got a lot 
of links.  I asked because I remembered seeing such clocks 
at KFI when I was a kid and knew a couple of their 
engineers.  A lot of radio stations, especially those 
belonging to networks, used WU clocks because timing was ver 
important.  The clocks there were in sound muffling cases. 
I've seen pictures of radio station installations that had a 
lamp on the clock that would flash on the hour but the 
clocks at KFI didn't have those.

     I also remember the news room at KFI which had half a 
dozen teletype machines in it. They must have subscribed to 
everything.
