 Does anyone know if the
received code was used directly by the machines or if it was
translated to 5-unit Beaudot code? Did RCA use standard
teleprinters or make (or have made) their own?

Richard,

I have two, matching colours, Model 15 "RCA Global" machines. My
understanding from the
girl down the road that had them (her dad retired from RCA Global and took
them home
for the kids to play with) is that they were used for international
messaging. Her dad told
her that Western Union was only able to do domestic transmissions and that
RCA had the
rights to international messaging. I don't know if this is accurate
however, the two RCA
Model 15's are standard baudot and function almost daily using the fantastic
ITTY system.

Where would we be without ITTY.....
