John,

In the 1970's thru 1980's we used cotton ribbons. Much darker print than nylon. These were used on 15, 28, 32, 35 and 33 Teletype. I used Nukote B76 cotton ribbons until I could no longer get them.

Okidata 80/82 ribbons are nylon and are a good sub except of late I have found that the plastic spools are just a little thicker than the early style metal ones. Save your metal ribbon spools. Find a piece of board about 4 by 6 inches and drive 2 finish nails into it a few inches apart. Makes a cheap and easy jig to rewind the 80/82 ribbons onto metal spools. I have only recently been doing this as most times the plastic spools are OK, but on some 32 and 33 ribbon assemblies, the plastic holders are weak and wont hold the spool good enuf. The plastic ribbon spools dont quite go on far enough to let the holder fingers snap to hold firmly.

73,

Wayne
