Burroughs used a 28RO in its 220 machine - with the character set all
modified to use the native character set of the computer. This was long
before ASCII. For the later 5500 model they used a 33KSR, also with
a modified character set. This replaced some non-IBM electric typewriter
they had tried as a console machine and I assume either found too
unreliable or too expensive. Still it's hard to understand why on a
million dollar computer they used a 33 instead of a 35. Univac used
35s for some of their console printers with, as I recall, their own
keyboard.

I remember a Model 35 ASR used with a Data General minicomputer and there
was some modification they made to the LXD reader. If I remember
correctly it involved a rubber band.
