Don -

Another use for the iPad:

Get into ITTY from your browser on the iPad, ( http://209.180.212.65:8000/listen.pls ) and use the audio output from the headphone jack to drive a TTY.
It's very handy, kept next to my machines while working (I have a pair of the Flesher TUs that love the signal.)
For me, it means I don't have to run across the room to my main computer.
And I have also saved (as PDFs) all of the Teletype manuals I have, and store them on the iPad. Very handy.

Technology serving antiquity!

don,

there is an app that will let you make phone calls with the iPad called Talkatone. you need a free google voice account to use it (voice.google.com) - it uses the built in wifi or 3g /4g and the internal speaker and microphone

it turns the iPad into a giant cellphone. free calls anywhere in the usa

i also have a bluetooth keyboard - android has much better keyboard customization capability than iOS

also consider google chrome as 2nd browser...
