[GreenKeys] ebay akron OH: Teletype 6 or 8 bit (prototype?) tape reader?

The tape guides align with not all 8 holes, as though narrower tape was 
intended for reading, and the general design says "prototype" to me, but 
I'm turning it over to the experts:
