Rainer,

Not sure. Quite possibly there is a jumper or one of the "DIP
switches" to set. A DIP switch looks like an 8- or 16-pin integrated
flat pack circuit but has movable bits in the middle. See below.

The "/T" in the units designator means "tempest". This is a
complicated system of reducing electromagnetic (and acoustic)
radiation from communication equipment so "the enemy" cannot easily
detect what is being handled. In the case of teletype equipment, it
means that the signals going between machines and electronic system
parts is low level (Low voltage, low current). Your unit has no high
level loop supply.

Follow the link offered by CORYHOUSE for an easy to build simple
gadget that will do the job:
"Nagle has an rs 232 converter on his site

http://www.aetherltd.com/connecting.html

I would say if he has it up there is is a good one and well tested by
him."

> There is no loop socket but a FSK socket on its back.

The FSK socket (BNC, I am sure) has audio tones coming from it to feed
the audio input to a transmitter (usually an SSB transmitter). There
are also two other connectors that send out digital signals according
the the RS-232 standard ("EIA -12M +12S" as I see on a picture here),
or the corresponding military standard ("MIL +5M -5S") These three
BNC connectors are enclosed by a stripe marked "OUTPUT"

You need the document MPC-1000T.pdf to help you figure all this out,
and find what it takes to turn the speed shifting on. (I can send if
you don't find it online.) Try:
www.hypertools.com/dovetron/Dovetron_MPC-1000T.pdf
www.alldatasheet.com/view.jsp?Searchword=MPC-1000T
ebookbrowse.com/1000t-pdf-d70475362
ebookbrowse.com/dovetron-mpc-1000t-pdf-d59085679

That manual says:
"The speed conversion (SPEED CONVERT) switch S5 will normally also be
left in the ON (forward) position, but may be set to the OFF position,
depending on the operator's requirements "

I have a diagram of an adapter by WA2HWJ, though it does not have
isolation for the loop current.
