    There may be an actual (non-joke) aspect to this.  Its 
possible under come conditions for paper to acquire a static 
electric charge. Probably not of concern with teleprinters 
but paper which is slightly conductive would eliminate it 
just as conductive wrappers for semi-conductors do.
