Greek Keyers:
Has anyone on the list actually ever SEEN one of these machines? With their own eyes?
I've forgotten just where I first saw the photo, but since then, I saw an alleged
explanation of how and why it was developed and where they were used. The 'story' was
that they were made for some "Hot Line" war room in Washington DC. The story ended
with that facility being filled in with cement, equipment and all. It sounded quite
flaky to me, even for our Government.
I think that it was supposed to be available during the LBJ Administration. Again,
I can't verify or remember if I kept that message or not.
I know I can't leave an attachment so all I can do at this time is describe it and
offer to send the graphic image to anyone who can post it in a common area for others
to see.
The cabinet is an extended ASR cabinet, maybe as wide as a standard ASR with a KSR
sitting next to it snugly. There are two printer positions and two keyboards with
the usual selector knob for controlling the perf/reperf, and then what appears to be
a normal span to the left of the left printer of regular cabinetry as seen in most
28ASR machines. Or, similar to my size explanation, an ASR and a KSR 'blended'
together.
If anyone wants to see the .jpg file get back to me off list. If anyone will post
the image, so much the better.
For now,
Ralph Irish
