You wonder why Teletype never designed a gizmo that would attach the platen crank to the cover by a chain, to prevent losing the crank. (Of course they would have sold fewer replacement cranks that way. But then an attitude like that would not go over in the Bell System.) jhhaynes at earthlink dot net
