[GreenKeys] Model 35 type boxes

I notice that my model 35 is also missing the type box.  Are the model
28 type boxes interchangeable with the 35, or do I need to get one
specific to the 35?

Also, when I try to advance the paper on the 35 by rotating the wheel
on the left hand side, the gears don't move freely.  This unit appears
dirty inside, but doesn't appear to have rust everywhere that would
indicate it was kept outside.  Is this most likly just gunked up
lubricant that needs to be cleaned off and fresh lubricant applied?
Is there a quick way to tell from inspection if it's something more
serious?
