The unusual governor on the Model 14 tape printer allows it to operate
at 2 different speeds by merely flipping a switch. The switch is located
at the front of the machine and is marked 'HI' and 'LO.' There are 2
separate centrifugal switches located in the governor assembly and the
toggle switch selects one or the other. The motor turns at about 1680
RPM for 60 WPM and at about 2106 for 75 WPM. The same setup was available
for Model 15 machines. The 2 speed governor was a neat trick. As has been
pointed out, this particular machine is only for use at a test position.
Parts are shown in Teletype manual 1147B.
