And everybody has been laughing at me for hoarding polar relays......!

They can also be used as a "poor man's" RS232-to-Loop converter.

I have a theory that amateur/hobbyist astronomers have discovered that
if you take a 255 polar relay and couple it to a silicon power diode,
two Heineken bottle caps and half a toasted acorn, you can make a
small warp-drive engine powerful enough to launch the entire assembly
to Alpha Centauri. But rather than shooting for the stars, they aim
it at the dark side of the moon and watch for the flash of plasma when
it hits. I think this also explains why someone can ask for triple
digits for a 255 on eBay:

P.S. If the government suddenly bans the sale of polar relays, you'll
know my theory is true.
