[GreenKeys] ARRL RTTY contest

First, Larry, I am a bit ahead of you in learning of this strange belief on
the part of current amateurs! After a prolonged absence from the hobby I
took it up again in returement and the first thing I did was purchase
something called an "RTTY book." Not a sign of a teletype machine! But to
add insult to injury I found that there are also "some" who think that a 30
series machine or even a 43 is "legitimate." I hope you realize they do
not call the interest "RTTY" but, rather, "RITTEY." And you should know
that to a purist like myself there is only "60 speed." And my fox box is
entirely mechanical and I do have a proper tuning fork and I have built a
terminal unit in a polar relay. The old RTTYers are now using PSK-31.

But it may console you slightly to know about a bit of the future I learned
last week. There are now formal plans to integrate amateur radio into the
National Incident Management System! And they do not include the ARRL
message form and specifically excludes ARES and your ham radio cap and your
call letter badge! The winds of change are truly blowing hard!
