Howdy folks,

I've loaned two Model 15 mailboxes to Harvard. A description of the venture
is below. There should be more info coming once the project is actually
functioning.

The two teletypes will work in two separate museum spaces: one here at the
CHSI, Harvard, and the other one at the MIT Museum. The idea is for
visitors, in both spaces, to type on the teletype and determine whether they
are writing to a machine or a human at the other end of the line. In order
to do so, we need to program the teletype with a particular software so that
they can communicate with each other and, when there is no one at the end of
the line, with a computer. There will be no irreversible modifications done
to the teletypes. One of the key piece of hardware we will need to plug-in
in both teletypes is a Black Box, model CL-051A, we will buy separately. The
work on this project is done by a team from the Harvard metaLAB, a group
specialized in critical media practices. Our tech at the CHSI is Richard
Wright, W1MPD, who has decades of experience with radio and all sorts of
electronic apparatus.
