[GreenKeys] M28 typebox and print quality questions

Making good progress getting my M28 "skintight" all tuned up and working
smooth. However I have a couple issues for which I'm seeking advice.

1) After replacing some obviously broken parts that affected the type
quality, I now see that the letter "E" in the typebox has the strike
pin clearly worn more than the rest of the type in the box. The pin
is visibly shorter than the rest by at least a 1/16". This makes "E"
print very faintly compared to other characters.

Is the standard practice to replace the entire typebox or can we take
those apart and just replace the "E"?

2) Ignoring the faint "E", all the other type looks real nice and prints
the best near the center of the carriage travel width. However all
characters are lighter at the left most and right most ends of the
carriage travel. It starts to get real nice maybe 20 chars in from
each end. It's like it's hitting harder in the center than near the
ends. I've got the strike adjustment set to "3", which I believe is
maximum strike. It at least pulls the spring the most when set to "3".
This adjustment lever was one of the broken parts that I've replaced along
with the spring so I think I've got good tension from the spring now.

Where should I look for an adjustment/fix for uneven print density?
