[GreenKeys] shipping a Model 28 KSR

Barry.
It is possible to move a 28 laying down but not recommended.  All four of the screws that mount the typing unit must be secured as well as the screws that hold the base and the electrical service unit in place.
When all machines except the 14, 15, and 19 were shipped, they were bolted to a pallet and wrapped with plastic sheeting and a lightweight crating was wrapped around the pallet with a matching top.
Today's freight rates are quite high.  I shipped a 28ASR from Illinois to Utah for over $400.00.  If the price of gas gets close to $3. a gallon, it would probably be best to pick a machine up.
Most machines can be partially disassembled in modules so that they can fit into automobiles, SUVs, etc. Sadly most people do not know how to ship items that are heavy.
