The mechanism is an id drum better used on TWX circuits.on the Bell system. Most often used on model 33 machines in dial-ups. The WRU key on the keyboards*(33) stood for "who are you". Pre programmed drums would answer with their id to the other operator. Rich K8PJQ formerly Mich Bell tty repair.

I have t 28's ASR and KSR 



I just notice something different this evening, on the KSR there is some additional mechanism to the right, I have attached a photo to the email. Can anyone tell me what this is?
